Hello!

I am an artist from London who’s work is an exploration of self through intersections of religion, cultural history and colonial concepts. My pieces symbolise
geographic divide and the experience of the Cape Malay diaspora specifically through the use of music as a core component providing opportunity to explore how to be connected to culture and how music is a tool to understand and reflect hardship and shared experience across communities; when focusing on this topic within my art I use modes of archival footage, family heirlooms such as recipes, religious texts, family records etc... as a means of bringing these “lost” artefacts to life and creating new meaning.

My other interests include “DIY” methods of creating as I have a huge love for making work by using collaging techniques as well as photography; I love isolating objects within images I've taken to create chaotic compositions. My work intersects my love of photography and DIY making with my cultural history and religion.
